Vivid and Cultivated
Located on the Upper West Side, this apartment redesign was a full gut renovation. New floors were laid down throughout, the interior walls were painted, the kitchen and bathroom were remodeled, and the design and decor were updated.

Details about the project and our client's vision:
Living Room
Taking Cues from Color: While she didn’t have an idea for a design, our client told us she loved orange and green. We purchased a 1950s love seat and sofa at an estate sale, and reupholstered them with down and organic cotton. Now if she falls asleep on her sofa, she has no concerns about breathing the chemicals found in most furniture available in stores. Her art collection and coffee and end tables were arranged to complement her new furniture.
Bathroom
Fulfilling a Nostalgic Vision: Our client wanted us to replicate the bathroom from her childhood home. We recreated a 1920s-style bathroom design with a timeless black and white aesthetic accented with sea green paint.
Kitchen
Sourcing Real Wood & Stone: The client had visited the finest Manhattan showcases, and was frustrated that she'd been shown everything but natural wood. We helped her find a dealer that supplied maple cabinets made in the USA, and provided a wide selection of stone and marble countertops.
Living Room
Solving a Problem: The oak floors had suffered repeated water damage, and the client was hesitant to lay down new wood floors. She asked me to help her find an alternative, and we settled on these unusual and exquisite porcelain tiles.
Master Bedroom
Working with Existing Furniture: The client chose a dark, thick wood bed frame and bureau made by Amish artisans. At first, we thought it was too big and dark for the size of the room. But we made it work by arranging the room to include a sitting area and to emphasize spaciousness.
Final Touches
Windows & Walls: Window treatments should be functional as well as decorative. Here we wanted to maximize the view and light, while providing options for privacy and shade. Zinou helped the client select window treatments with roller shades that do both. We also helped place and hang the client's art to complement and enhance the room.
